The Coby PMP-4330 is your basic, run-of-the-mill portable media player. It supports music, video and picture formats. It also has an FM radio, the ability to record line-in and removable disk storage for expandable memory. However, it is lacking may features that are usually standard in most digital media players like a clock, alarm, sleep timer or album art display.
The Coby PMP-4330 is slightly larger and heavier than most of the MP3 players we reviewed. It has a large 4.3 in display that is excellent, but gives off some glare. The battery lasts for about 18 hours on audio and six on video. Although the audio life is nothing impressive the video is longer than most.
The Coby PMP-4330 supports common music formats including MP3, WMA, and WAV; however, it does not support any DRM protected media. Therefore, it will not work with songs downloaded from online music stores like Napster and Yahoo! Music.
While Coby does include documentation for most of its portables we were unable to find one specifically for the 4330. Instead we used the instruction guide for an earlier model PMP 4320. This manual worked just fine.
We found that you can not charge the Coby 4330 with a USB cord. You have to use a standard 9-volt battery charger that comes with the device. Which helps it charge slightly faster than other MP3 players.
