The only thing that kept the Cowon A2 from the top of our list was its price verses its storage size. With only 30GB of storage and more than $300 price tage, we felt that several other products gave you a little more bang for your buck. Additionally, we found that although the player supported many music formats, it would not play any DRM protected music.
Otherwise, the A2 is a feature rich portable that includes all the industry standards including an equalizer, FM radio, text document support and more. However, we surprised the A2 doesn’t have the ability to display album art.
The device has a four inch screen and is a little large compared to other portables. It includes joystick navigation with four buttons along the right side. It also includes an A/V cable in to record video directly into the player.
The Cowon A2 supports several picture and video formats, making it easy to download or record your favorite images and movies to your personal video device.
The A2 will support MP3, WMA and WAV files; however, it will not support any DRM protected music. This seriously limits from which sources you can download your music.
Although the Cowon A2 is a nifty little device, we found that it just might be too expensive for most people shopping for an MP3 player.Cowon A2 Screenshots. Click to Enlarge
